Twelve years after the critical success of their first
production of Hamlet which starred Alan Cumming and
Eleanor Bron and transferred to the Donmar Warehouse,
ETT have staged a new production with Ed Stoppard in the
title role and Anita Dobson playing Queen Gertrude.
Hamlet comes to the New Ambassadors following a sell out
national tour during autumn 2005.

and director of this production is a winner of the
Shakespeare Globe’s Sam Wanamaker Award, and Hamlet
stays true to the company’s ethos producing of raw,
direct and passionate theatre.
Ed Stoppard takes on one of the most challenging
roles in drama. His family ties mean that he was born
into the theatre and recent productions have included
Age, Sex, Location at the Riverside Studios, London and

Anita Dobson, whilst familiar to millions as

Critics Circle Awards. Other stage work includes Budgie

Garrick.
Ophelia is played by Alice Patten who, as daughter to
the governor of Hong Kong spent her early life away from
England before returning to begin an acting career by
